School district again offers Summer Enrichment program

The Riverview Community School District’s 2020 Summer Enrichment program is running from July 6 – Aug. 6 and will be divided into two 2 ½ week sessions. Students will attend their classes either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. with a lunch being provided for all. Classes will be held at the Seitz–Huntington Complex, 17800 Kennebec.

The classes we have this year are as follows:

Monday/Wednesday Classes
• Super Scientists (grades K)—Explore the scientific world through “hands-on” lessons and activities about plants, animals, sea life, etc. with Ms. Hoying.

 • Reading/Writing Workshop for Kindergarten (grade K)—Improve your reading and writing skills through a variety of fun activities with Ms. H. DeRosia.

 • Picture Book STEM (grades K-2)— Integrate engaging picture books with fun hands-on STEM activities. Get ready to be inspired through reading, engineering, tinkering, and inventing with Ms. Gajewski.

 • Learning is Fun! (grades 1-2)—Learning can be so much fun! Enjoy fun activities in music, art, science, math, reading, exploration, and movement with Ms. Vollmerhausen.

 • Author Exploration (grades 1-2)—Explore and read a variety of different authors with Ms. Sexton-Grunwald.

 • Multiplication Madness (grades 2-3)—Learn the basics of multiplication and multiplication facts through the use of manipulatives, patterns, and games with Ms. Avery.

 • EV3 Robotics (grade 3)—Roll into the world of Lego Robotics with lessons on building and programming robots to complete multi-level challenges and activities with Mr. Laginess.

 • Reading/Writing Workshop for Upper Elementary (grades 4-5)— Improve your reading and writing skills through a variety of fun activities with Ms. A. DeRosia.

 • Drama Techniques 101 (grades 4-8)—Learn every aspect of creating a drama performance both onstage and backstage with Mr. Hoying.

 • Road trip USA (grades 5-8)—Sick of being stuck inside and at home? Travel the US by developing and researching a road trip of the places and adventures you would want to see with Mr. Zachary.

 • Heroes & Villains (grades 6-9)— What makes someone a hero or a villain? Explore fictional and real-life heroes and villains using your powers of reading, writing, debating, acting, and creating with Ms. Genig.

Tuesday/Thursday Classes
• Math for Little Minds (grades K)—Learn a variety of math concepts such as adding, subtracting, telling time, etc. by using and creating manipulatives with Mrs. Hoying.

 • Picture Book STEM (grades K-2)— Integrate engaging picture books with fun hands-on STEM activities. Get ready to be inspired through reading, engineering, tinkering, and inventing with Ms. Gajewski.

 • Author Exploration (grades 1-2)—Explore and read a variety of different authors with Ms. Sexton-Grunwald.

 • Reading/Writing Workshop for Second and Third Grade (grades 2-3)— Improve your reading and writing skills through a variety of fun activities with Ms. A. DeRosia.

 • DIY Arts and Crafts (grades 3-5)—Enjoy creating different DIY arts and crafts with Ms. Millner.

 • EV3 Robotics (grade 4)—Roll into the world of Lego Robotics with lessons on building and programming robots to complete multi-level challenges and activities with Mr. Laginess.

 • Spanish Connection (grades 4-6)—Enjoy learning introductory and high frequency phrases along with practicing basic conversations through songs, crafts, and cultural exploration with Ms. Frost.

 • Drama Techniques 101 (grades 4-8)—Learn every aspect of creating a drama performance both onstage and backstage with Mr. Hoying.

 • Stock Market Simulation (grades 5-9)—Explore the stock market and compete against your classmates to create the most valuable portfolio with Mr. Zachary.

 • Algebra Boot Camp (grades 6-10)—Strengthen basic algebra skills to help you succeed in your math classes with Mr. Betway.
